Preview: PFL World Tournament 6: Semifinals

PFL 2025 Bantamweight Semifinal
Justin Wetzell (11-2) vs. Mando Gutierrez (11-3)

Wetzell bounced around on the regional circuit for years before earning his shot on the world stage this PFL season. The Denver bantamweight punched his ticket to the semifinals after upsetting Kasum Kasumov in the quarterfinals. Wetzell demonstrated diversity in his skill set and outworked Kasumov in spurts. He snuck in elbows and showed a willingness to grapple that gave him the edge on a tight scorecard. While Wetzell isn’t known for his finishes, he’s notoriously hard to stop and well-rounded. Gutierrez is a rugged journeyman who has shared the cage with several promising fighters on his road to the PFL semifinals. Throughout his 14-fight career, Gutierrez has been matched against tough opponents, but it all paid off in his quarterfinal win over Francesco Nuzzi.

“El Toro” is the younger, more athletic fighter who presents more problems than Wetzell. While Wetzell looks to control the fight, Gutierrez is an aggressor who could potentially catch Wetzell off guard. Expect Gutierrez to apply the pressure early and push for the stoppage late.
